FLORENCE, AL – The Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of North Alabama is celebrating Respiratory Care Week today through Oct. 26 with two unique events scheduled to take place on campus.
- From noon until 2 p.m. on Oct. 22 on the third floor of Harrison Hall, attendees will get a close-up look at respiratory care through the use of interactive virtual reality headsets.
- On Oct. 23, from noon until 1 p.m. in the Guillot University Center, respiratory care students will share more about the program through an educational display related to the health hazards associated with vaping while promoting healthy respiratory practices.
“Respiratory Care Week is a time to celebrate respiratory therapists and the work they do for patients and their communities,” said Jabril Diamond, lecturer and Respiratory Care program coordinator. “Respiratory Care Week is also a time to emphasize the importance of lung health. This is our second year celebrating this week at ACONHP, and the goal is to let current and future students know that respiratory therapists are an integral part of the health care team, and the work they do is both invaluable and rewarding.”
The Respiratory Care program recently admitted its second cohort of students; the program was launched as a direct response to the growing needs and demands for this profession in hospitals and health care centers.
